TRAVEL
We rented a car with deiver to get to Koh Chang island. We left first of January morning and stayed for a week. It is about 4 hours drive from Bangkok and then about 30 min ferry ride. Since Thailand and Cambodia were having a boarder conflict, there was less tourists than usual, so we did not have to wait long for the ferry. They go like every hour. On a way back there was a bit of a queue, so we waited around an hour. Funny thing was that at the ferry stop I went to toilet with boys and then I heard Estonian language. Apparently there were also some Estonians visiting the island and I heard the language also while walking along the beach. Not so much Danish as Danish ministry had advised against visiting the area. However, there was 0 sign of military conflict.

HOTEL
It was actually not that easy to find any hotel with kids club. There was not that big selection. The hotel - Kacha Resort & Spa - we chose had quite small kids club area, but luckily there was playground outside by both pools. Also trampoline. The water in the pool was slightly cold for kids, so in most cases they always wanted to change the clothes after swimming. On the positive side, I could be more relaxed about heat stroke.

White Sand Beach by the hotel
The hotel had 2 pools - one by the beach and one on the other side of the main road. The beach one was quite crowded most of the times, so it was nice to be on the other pool that was less crowded. The hotel was by the White Sand beach but it was impacted by the tides, so the beach started showing after noon.

We had breakfast included and it was quite good. Kids also got some small toys every morning. I also got the massage at the beach and I think the second time I was given massage by ladyboy. 🙈😁

And as always, there were very pretty sunset, so we spend most evenings enjoying the sunset and how the sky was playing around with light. There was also sometimes live music by the hotel and the traditional light show.

FOOD
The hotel was in the center of the White Sand beach area and there was night market every evening, where was good selection of cheap food. We bought food from there most of the time and then ate at the beach during the sunset. There were also plenty of restaurants close by where we ate lunch and fruit stand with fresh mango.

BOAT TRIP
The best way to get around in the Island is to have the motorcycle. However, I am not brave enough to ride around with kids, so we got the local taxi. The road gets a bit hilly along the coast. We went for 2 trips during our time on the island. One was the trip to the Fisherman´s village Bang Bao pier and the second one was the ferry trip to local island for swimming and snorkeling. The ferries to island are departing also from Bang Bao pier. During our first visit, we ate at the local restaurant and took some pictures during the sunset.

The Boat Trip vibes
I really enjoy the ferry trips in Thailand, since it takes to the remote islands and beaches were are limited number of people, so it feels super pretty. 😊

Xmas vibes were still around
The good thing about writing the post almost half year later is that I have forgot all the small details, so the blog post is shorter. But I would definitely like to go back to Koh Chang. The nature is pretty and there is still the real island vibe, still tourist, but not so many high end resorts yet as in Koh Samui, so it feels more like local. It would even be fine to just rent a cabin by the beach and chill there for some weeks during winter since the street food is cheap.

Now I am just missing the Pattaya blog post from the Thailand trip. Since we have not planned any major trip with kids this year, then I guess it is ok to live through the memories from previous trip. 😁
